Location and activities

During the times of filming at Picnic, I learned a lot about the work activities there. Since we were able to go filming at the Hub of Picnic, I was able to see the location myself, finally understanding where my roommates spends most of her time during Corona.

The Hub, the location where Picnic is located, is illustrated below in a map. We entered the building, hung up our coats and put on safety shoes. Then we often had to wait, so we sat down on the couch or went playing table tennis upstairs, until we could start the shift. We moved to the large room, where all vehicles and frames with crates were located. There is much movement prior to the shift, because the vehicle is driven back and forth, crates are loaded into the vehicle and the gadgets used during the trip are picked up at the booth in the large room. After about fifteen minutes we are finished loading and we can leave for the trip, through the large door at the back we drive out of the room.

Because of Corona, loading looks a bit different than before. All colleagues start their shift at about the same time, but have to keep distance. However, everyone grabs the same frames, gadgets and vehicles. Extra cleaning needs to be done, which in turn requires extra actions and extra time, but not much more time is scheduled for the employees.

Christien describes in my interview with her that she feels good at her work. This is mainly due to her colleagues whom she speaks to a lot, often next to work or at employee parties. Unfortunately, Corona influences the contact between colleagues, wherefore have not been able to include this in my film but which Christien described as one of the important parts of her work.
