Introduction to my research

My research is about my housemate Chrisiten. Christien works at Picnic, a company that delivers groceries. Grocery deliverers are urgently needed during the time of Corona, because not everyone is allowed to leave the house to do their own shoppings anymore. Grocery deliverers therefore are part of the vital professions. Christien contributes to these troubled times by delivering groceries as work. However, there are many more colleagues who are now working. Is this allowed according to the rules? How does the activities at work deal with the rules that have been set? Since I was curious about the processes behind the vital professions in times of Corona, my research question is:

To what extent do the measures about the Coronavirus affect the work and experience of working at the shopping delivery company Picnic according to Christien?

Hereby I ask the following subquestions:

  • What kind of activities does working at Picnic consist of?
  • How have the activities changed due to the Coronavirus?
  • How is change of the experienced by Christien?

I have elaborated these questions through Visual Methods.

The Corona Crisis is an unique era in history. How people behave and how people interact is a subject that is very scientifically relevant to anthropology. I think that this topic is also socially relevant at the moment, because many people are at home and therefore get little insight into how vital professions now have to adapt and perform their work in a safe manner. With my film I want to give people insight into this.
